The Sacred Heart women's cross country team took second place at the St. Francis (PA) Red Flash Invitational Saturday afternoon in Loretto, PA, site of the 2005 Northeast Conference Championship in November. The men finished 10th.

The Pioneers placed five runners in the top-25 among the 12 teams that competed on 5K course. Leading the SHU charge was freshman Kathleen Henry (Basking Ridge, NJ) who took 5th place just three seconds ahead of teammate, junior Kathleen Duffy (Monroe, CT) in 6th.

Henry, last week's NEC Rookie of the Week, finished the course in 20:15 while Duffy came in at 20:18. In 14th place was junior Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) who clocked in at 20:42. Senior Jenna Pisani (Vernon, NJ) finished 18th at 21:06 and fellow senior Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) rounded out the top-five in 25th with a time of 21:16.

SHU finished with 68 team points behind just the host Red Flash with 52. Other NEC teams competing in the race included Quinnipiac (4th), Mount St. Mary's (5th), Monmouth (6th), Wagner (8th), St. Francis-NY (10th), Robert Morris (11th) and Long Island (12th).

On the men's side, senior captain Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) was the Pioneers top finisher with a time of 28:55 which placed him 42nd. Freshman John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY) finished in 44th with a time of 28:58.
