Men’s Cross Country Opens Season At Stony Brook

 

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's cross country team opened the 2017 season Saturday at the Stony Brook Season Opener.

Freshman Moetiz Shilleh was the Pioneers' top finisher, placing 13th in the 6k race in a time of 19:00.8 in his college debut. Senior Andrew Handfield was right behind him in 14th with a time of 19:08.9. Dane Krchnavy finished 24th in 19:29.5. Gilmar Barrios (27th – 19:53.2) and Christopher Gillis (28th – 19:57.5) rounded out the SHU scoring pack.

As a team, SHU finished fourth behind Stony Brook, Quinnipiac, and Fordham.

SHU next competes at the UMass Invitational on Sept. 9.
