SHU Opens Season at Stony Brook Invite

STONY BROOK, NY (August 31, 2013) - The Sacred Heart men's cross country team got the 2013 season started on Saturday afternoon, running in the 2013 Stony Brook University Invitational.  The Pioneers took fourth in a five team field running on 6k course at SBU.

The Pioneers finished with 88 total team points and had a pair of runner finish in the top-10.  The host Seawolves won the event with Quinnipiac second, Manhattan third and St. Joseph College rounding out the field in fifth.

Graduate student Christopher Connelly (Medford, NY) brought home a fourth place finish to lead all Pioneers, clocking in at 19:23.96.  Sophomore Sean Ferguson (Smithtown, NY) grabbed a sixth place finish, crossing the tape in a time of 19:27.74.

The rest of the Sacred Heart top-five consisted of freshman Cameron Swift () in 32nd (21:12.29), senior Kevin Schumann () in 33rd (21:14.89) and junior Colby Jennings () in 34th (21:25.50).

The Pioneers will run at the Bryant Invitational next Saturday, September 7th.
