ERIE, PA - The Sacred Heart wrestling team started the 2007-08 season with a strong fourth place finish at the National Catholic Invitational being held at Mercyhurst College today. Host Merceyhurst won the event with 161.5 points. Gannon finished second with 116, followed by Notre Dame with 98 and SHU with 60.5 in fourth in the nine-team field.

Sophomore Cory Dunn (Rutherford, NJ) finished second at 133 pounds, falling to top seeded Jayk Cobbs of Duquesne in the championship bout, 6-4.

Junior Jed Giguere (Walpole, MA) also finished second at 174. He fell to AJ Sayles of Cannon in the final, 7-4.

Freshman Richard Eichenlaub (Woodcliffe, NY) made a big splash in his collegiate debut when he finshed second at 184 pounds. Unseeded in the tournament, he reached the final before losing to top seed Pino Scavella in the title bout.
