FAIRFAX, VA - Senior Payam Zarrinpour (Shiraz, Iran) defeated Chris Cowan of Drexel, 6-4, in the Colonial Athletic Association heavyweight championship match to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the fourth straight year.

The Pioneers finished in fifth place in the CAA Championships, behind Hofstra University who won the title with 138.5 points. Old Dominion finished second with 89 and Rider was third with 84.5, while Drexel was fourth with 66.5. SHU finished with 41.5 points.

Zarrinpour was he only Pioneer wrestler to win a weight class. Andrew Silber finished in fourth place at 187 pounds, losing the third-place match to Jesse Strawn of Old Dominion, 7-3.

Paul Galipeau finished in fourth place at 133 pounds. He lost to Bill Martin of Drexel in the third-place bout.
