Pioneers In 12th After Day One of EIWA Championships
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Sacred Heart Wrestling team finished the first day of the EIWA Championships at Princeton in 12th place with 23 points.

In the 125-pound weight class, freshman Gerard Daly started off the day with a loss by technical fall in 6:28 to Lehigh's Darien Cruz. Daly would get back in the swing with two straight wins in the consolation rounds, including a pin in 1:53 of Bryan Damon of Hofstra.

Elliott Antler won his first match of the day at 184 pounds by decision 7-3 against Stephen Loiseau of Drexel. Antler then fell in the quarterfinals by pin in 4:42 against Gabe Dean of Cornell. Antler came back with a win in the consolation of 8 round against Michael Fetcet of Columbia 5-3 in overtime.

Heavyweight Ray Sherwood lost his first match against Joe Stolfi of Bucknell pin in 1:36. Sherwood bounced back to get two straight wins in the consolation rounds. The first win came by fall in 0:32 versus Nick Marby from Navy and the second came by default in the first round against Trevor Smith from Army. 

The Pioneers finished the night in 12th place out of 16 teams with 23 points, 3.5 points behind Columbia. Cornell leads in points with 91.5 and second is Lehigh with 82.5 points. Sacred Heart is 3.5 points behind Columbia for 11th place.

The EIWA Championships will conclude on Sunday with Daly, Antler, and Sherwood all guaranteed to place.
