FAIRFIELD, Conn - Brown University made a visit to the William H. Pitt Center Sunday afternoon and won 9 of 10 bouts en route to a 34-3 victory over Sacred Hear . The dual meet started at 133 lbs. where Anthony Finocchiaro scored a 7-4 decision over freshman Kyle Brady (South Plainfield, NJ). Brady started a rally in the second period with a takedown, put Finocchiaro countered with a reversal and put together a solid third period to finish the match.
Andrew Polidore (Wayne, NJ) put the Pioneers on the board with a 9-4 decision, courtesy of four takedowns. At 149 lbs, Alex Harnsberger (Hillsboro, OR) and Steven Galiardo traded takedowns in the first period, but Galiardo answered back strong and earned the major decision.
Casey Mitchell (South Windsor, CT) struggled to find an answer for Justin Staudenmeyer at 157 lbs, and lost 4-0. Philip Marano used three takedowns and an escape to defeat Johnny Vrasidas (Smithtown, NY) 7-4 at 165 lbs.
Ophir Bernstein, ranked 9th nationally recorded a second period fall over Tomasz Filipkowski (Cutchogue, NY). Filipkowski made things interesting at the end of the first period scoring a reversal from his back. Bernstein answered back in the second period and recorded the pin.
Agustus Marker and Ryder Cavey picked up decisions victories for Brown at 197 lbs and HWT.
The Pioneers travel to Rider University next Saturday to take on the Broncos at 3:00 PM.
