SHU Wrestling Named Finalist for Best of Brand's Top Newcomer Award
FAIRFIELD, Conn – SHU Wrestling has been named one of 12 finalists for Best Of Brand’s “Top Newcomer” Award. The Pioneers are joined by Lehigh, Neosho, Old Dominion, Rider, Stanford, UW-Whitewater, Wayland Baptist, Wheeling Jesuit, Army, Brown, and Eastern Washington as the other finalists.

Wrestling Concludes Season at EIWA Championships
Philadelphia, PA – The Sacred Heart University wrestling team closed out the season at the 110th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships. The powerhouse conference is comprised of 18 teams; American, Army, Binghamton, Boston, Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, Cornell, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Hofstra, Lehigh, Navy, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Rutgers, and Sacred Heart.

SHU Wrestling Earns Split with Princeton and AIC
FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart wrestling team earned a split of two matches Sunday afternoon, falling to Princeton, 35-6, before rebounding to defeat AIC, 29-19, at the William H. Pitt Center. The Pioneers now have three dual match victories this season.

Pioneers Dropped by Bucknell, 36-6
FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart wrestling team earned just a forfeit victory at 174 pounds Sunday night, falling to the Bucknell Bison, 36-6 at the Pitt Center. SHU falls to 2-10 on the season, while Bucknell improves to 8-10.

SHU Wrestling Moves up to 12th in Best of Brand Rankings
FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart wrestling team once again moved up the National Wrestling Coaches of America/Elite Level Sports Marketing Best of Brand Rankings to the number 12 spot. The SHU wrestling “Pioneers Way” brand has continually moved up the list this season, starting the season at number 16.

Pioneers Defeated by Brown 34-3
FAIRFIELD, Conn - Brown University made a visit to the William H. Pitt Center Sunday afternoon and won 9 of 10 bouts en route to a 34-3 victory over Sacred Hear . The dual meet started at 133 lbs. where Anthony Finocchiaro scored a 7-4 decision over freshman Kyle Brady (South Plainfield, NJ). Brady started a rally in the second period with a takedown, put Finocchiaro countered with a reversal and put together a solid third period to finish the match.

SHU Wrestling Goes 1-3 in Pennsylvania
LANCASTER, Penn – The Sacred Heart University Wrestling team spent the weekend on the mat in Pennsylvania. Friday night, The Pioneers made a visit to Lancaster, Pa to take on Franklin & Marshall. The Diplomats dominated the Pioneers, winning all 10 bouts en route to a 43-0 shutout. Franklin & Marshall took quick control of the dual meet, picking up bonus points in the first six matches and carrying that momentum into the upper-weight classes.

FAIFIELD, Conn – Sacred Heart wrestling has jumped three spots in this month's National Wrestling Coaches Associations Best of Brand Rankings to 13th best brand in the country. Head Coach Andy Lausier, in his second season has head coach, has created " The Pioneers Way" brand that is rapidly growing notoriety.

Pioneers Dropped by VMI in Home Opener
Fairfield, Conn - The home opener for Sacred Heart University Wrestling was spoiled by Virginia Military Institute, as the Keydets won 8 of 10 bouts. The dual meet started at 125 lbs. where Dalton Henderson recorded a fall over Joe Harris, giving the VMI 6-0 lead. Michael Flora followed with a 9-0 major decision over Kyle Brady at 133 lbs.

Brady, Polidore, and Moran Place at Wilkes Open to Lead Pioneers
Wilkes Barre, Penn - Competing at the 81st annual Wilkes Open, SHU Wrestling was led by a trio of place winners in Kyle Brady, Andrew Polidore, and Zach Moran. Brady and Polidore both wrestled to 3rd place finishes, while Moran placed 4th.

SHU Wrestling Tops Davidson 22-19
BOSTON, Mass - It was a milestone night for SHU Wrestling as the team picked up its first dual meet victory of the 2013-14 season. In fact, this was the first victory for the Pioneers since February 13th, 2010. Sacred Heart University defeated Davidson College 22-19 at the neutral site of Case Gymnasium on the campus of Boston University.

TROY, NY - Sacred Heart University Wrestling opened its dual season at the prestigious Journeymen Northeast Duals, taking on George Mason University, University of Buffalo, and # 23 ranked Central Michigan University.

Kyle Brady and Zach Moran Lead Pioneers at East Stroudsburg University Open
EAST STROUDSBURG, Penn - One week after a strong showing at the Binghamton Open, the Pioneers continued their program rebuilding efforts with a quality performance at the ESU Open. The tournament featured nearly 500 wrestlers, including 20 from Sacred Heart.

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Sacred Heart wrestling team opened up their 2013-14 season over the weekend at the Binghamton Open. SHU was one of over 30 teams competing at the highly competitive Binghamton Open.

SHU Wrestling Holds "Practice on the Patio"
Fairfield, CT – With about a month left until the start the season, the Sacred Heart wrestling team decided to switch it up a bit and take their practice to the great outdoors. Head Coach Andy Lausier and the rest of the squad held a special training session outside dubbed "Practice on the Patio", held on the patio outside of 63's dining hall on campus.

Fairfield, CT (September 12, 2013) - Newly hired assistant wrestling coach Derek Moore took some time wednesday to talk to the folks at Takedown Radio about the new job and the upcoming SHU wrestling season. Head Coach Andy Lausier had previously been featured on Takedown radio last October.

SHU Wrestling Announces 2013-14 Schedule
Fairfield, CT – Sacred Heart University head wrestling coach Andy Lausier announced the Pioneers upcoming 2013-14 schedule. For the second straight season, SHU will open their season at the Binghamton Open on November 10th. Coach Lausier will begin his second full season at the helm of SHU wrestling.
