Kalani Efstathiou Named EIVA Hay Player of the Week

Fairfield, CT - Junior Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Division Player of the Week for the week of February 16-22. Efstathiou has also been tabbed the Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Sacred Heart University Student-Athlete of the Week for the same time period. This is the second award of the year for the SHU outside hitter.

Efstathiou led the Pioneer offense in both matches this week, hitting a solid .425 for the weekend as the Pioneers beat Ramapo and lost to East Stroudsburg. Saturday against Ramapo Efstathiou had 17 kills and hit .389 with two service aces and two blocks. In Sunday's five set loss to ESU Efstathiou was a force at every position. The junior had a match high 32 kills and hit an amazing .448. He also rang up 10 digs and had four service aces. The 32 kills are the most any Pioneer as had in match in the last five seasons.

The Pioneers are back home Friday night when they host Rutgers-Newark. The match gets underway at 7:00 pm at the Pitt Center.
