New Haven, CT - Senior Mike Ivers (Philadelphia, PA) had 14 kills and 11 digs to help lead the Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team to an EIVA Hay Division win over the University of New Haven on Thursday night, 30-21, 30-23, 25-30, 30-23.
Ivers led Sacred Heart (9-11, 2-8 EIVA Hay Division) in both kills and digs, while junior Chris Yantz (Setauket, NY) had 11 kills and five block assists. Freshman Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) logged ten kills on .562 hitting, while setter John Breen had 44 assists, five kills, five digs, three solo blocks and four block assists.
New Haven (7-15, 0-10 EIVA Hay) got 15 kills and seven digs from Tommy Musto, while setter Kevin Goncalves posted a double-double with 13 kills and 34 assists. He added six digs, two aces and two block assists. Peter Kazlas had nine kills, while Julian du Pont served up four aces. Austin Michalski had ten kills and 14 assists while serving as the secondary setter.
UNH hit just .158 overall for the match, but took game three by a 30-25 score after improving their hitting to .371 in that game.
The Pioneers close out the season Friday night against Saint Francis(PA) on senior night. Game time at the Pitt Center is set for 7:00 pm.
