FAIRFIELD, CT (April 9, 2003) - The Harvard University men's volleyball team ended Sacred Heart's four-match winning streak, posting a 3-1 win Wednesday night. The Pioneers took the first game, 30-23, but the Crimson rallied to win three-straight, 30-28, 30-24, and 30-26. Sacred Heart ends the season with a 13-10 overall record and 4-8 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
For Harvard, now 11-5 and 8-4 in the EIVA, sophomore Will Reppun had a team-high 15 kills and seven digs in the win. Junior Juan Carlos Cardet added 14 kills while senior Alex Kowell had 13 kills. Sophomore Ryland Degnan had 17 digs on the evening.
The Pioneers were led by junior Doug Soviero (Huntington, NY) who collected a game-high 15 kills and nine digs on the night. Senior Patrick Bihn (Floral Park, NY), playing in his last game for Sacred Heart, turned in 12 kills and two solo blocks. Junior Michael Maziarz (Wilbraham, MA) had a game-high 23 digs in the loss.
