NEW PALTZ, NY - The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team ran its record to 12-7 this season with a pair of wins at SUNY-New Paltz Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers defeated New Paltz in the opener, 3-1 (30-22, 27-30, 30-27, 30-17), and then blanked Philadelphia Biblical 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-23).
Junior Roger Parent (Burlington, CT) had a career-high 22 kills against New Paltz, making just three errors and hitting an impressive .422. He also had his seventh double-double of the season, recording 13 kills. Junior Craig Harvey (Beverly, MA)also had a strong game with 11 kills.
Sophomore Mike Komlanc (St. Croix, V.I.) continued his strong play at the net, finishing with five blocks to go along with seven kills.
In the second match, the Pioneers used 11 kills from Harvey and 14 digs apiece from Parent and Scott Grandpre (E. Greenwich, RI) to run away from Philadelphia Biblical, handing them just their fifth loss of the season against 15 wins. Komlanc was again a terror at the net with eight blocks.
The Pioneers are off until March 19 when they begin a six-game homestand by hosting Rivier at 7:00 pm.
