Fairfield, CT - Junior Scott Stoner had 17 kills and senior Chris Bock had 13 kills and seven digs as the Stevens Tech Ducks held on for a 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart in men's volleyball action Wednesday night at the William H. Pitt Center.

The Ducks won the first two games handily, by scores of 30-21 and 30-18. However, the Pioneers rallied to win a thrilling third game, 37-35. After Stevens went up 24-19, Sacred Heart scored the next six points to take a 25-24 lead. The teams then exchanged points before the Pioneers finally broke through for the victory. Stevens proved to be too much in the fourth game though, clinching the match by a 30-24 count.

Sacred Heart was paced by junior John Breen (North Andover, MA) who led all players with 18 kills. Freshman Barry Smith played well on both sides of the ball, registering 13 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Dan DuVall (Poolsville, MD) had 47 assists in his first match as Pioneer setter this year. Senior Alex Catani (Larkspur, CA) had 12 kills, while senior libero Brent Monden (Kanehoe, HI) had 10 digs for the Pioneer defense.

The Ducks, who improved to 9-6 on the season, also got big games from freshman Andrew Cranford, who had 11 kills, and libero Brian Carlson, who picked up 13 digs.
