Beverly, MA - Senior Barry Smith (Shelton, CT) had 16 kills for visiting Sacred Heart University as the Pioneers swept the Endicott College Gulls 3-0 in a non-conference men's volleyball matchup on Saturday afternoon The win improves Sacred Heart to 5-2 overall.
Sacred Heart led the first game wire to wire, winning 30-25. The Pioneers continued to control the tempo in the second game as they took down the Gulls 30-27. In the third game, Endicott took the lead several times but could notput the Pioneers away. The score was tied as late as 21-21 however Sacred Heart pulled away in the end, winning the deciding game 30-28.
The Gulls were paced by A.J. Witkofsky who had a game-high 19 kills to go along with 5 blocks. John Emery chipped in with 13 kills and Dan Coleman had 16 digs. Ben Foster had a game-high 49 assists for the Gulls.
Sacred Heart returns to action Monday night at Stevens Tech. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start.
