Final Stats

Fairfield, CT - The Springfield College Pride used an 8-2 run to close out a three game sweep of the Sacred Heart Pioneers in men's volleyball action Wednesday night at the William H. Pitt Center.

With the score tied at 22 Springfield ran off the next six straight points and finished the match with a service ace to improve to 3-0 on the season while the Pioneers fell to 0-2. The Pride won the three games by scores of 30-23, 30-20 and 30-24.

The Pioneers were led by senior Alex Catani (Larkspur, CA) who had 11 kills, and senior Mike Ivers (Philadelphia, PA) who registered 11 kills and a .476 hitting percentage. Junior John Breen (North Andover, MA) had 31 assists in the losing effort for the Pioneers.

Pride sophomore Eric Palumbo led all players in the macth with 19 kills and .548 hitting percentage. Freshman Ryan Fredrickson had 12 kills and a .474 percentage as well. Sophomore setter Chris Shekell had 18 assists in the victory for the Pride.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday, February 1st when they host Stevens Tech in the William H. Pitt Center. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
