He began his coaching career at the high school level in the Washington DC metro area. He started his collegiate coaching career at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, as the assistant coach for the women's team.
In 1998 ge started coaching at Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD as the coach for both the men's and women's volleyball programs.
At the urging of long-time mentor and former SHU volleyball coach Scott Carter, Boston came to Connecticut to become the assistant coach for both programs at Sacred Heart. When Carter left the men's program to take a position at Kent State, Coach Boston assumed the reins of the men's program while still assisting with the women.
Coach Boston has coached and conducted numerous clinics and camps and is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the Black Coaches Association (BCA).
