Sacred Heart University senior libero Joshua Ayzenberg (Long Beach, N.Y.) was named First-Team All-EIVA by the head coaches of the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. It marks the second consecutive first-team selection for Ayzenberg, who was also named Second-Team All-EIVA following his sophomore season.
Ayzenberg also highlighted four selections from the Pioneers roster to the EIVA All-Academic Team. Robert Costigan (Oxford, Conn.), Noah Ricchetti (Lake Barrington, Ill.) and Emerson Waumans (Carlsbad, Calif.) were also honored, by posting a GPA of 3.5 or higher, playing in 60 percent of the team's sets and having been at the University for more than one season.
A 2017 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, Ayzenberg again shown at the libero position for the Pioneers. He appeared in all 22 matches and played in 82 of 84 sets the Pioneers completed this spring.
Ayzenberg ended the regular season as the team leader in digs, with 242. That averaged out to 2.99 digs per set, tops in the EIVA and second in the NCAA. He has ranked in the top-10 in digs in the NCAA in each of the past three seasons, surpassing 200 digs in each of those campaigns. Ayzenberg collected two kills and 61 assists during his senior campaign
A native of Long Beach, N.Y., Ayzenberg finished his career appearing in 89 matches and 304 sets.
