Pioneers Return To The Track At Yale Collegiate Invitational
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart indoor track and field teams competed for the first time in 2014 Saturday at the Yale Collegiate Invitational at Coxe Cage.
The men's team had three event winners in the meet. Sophomore Sean Ferguson won the mile in a time of 4:17.85, taking the top spot by almost seven seconds. Senior Brandon Hutchinson took first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.90 meters. Freshman Joshua Beloff was second with a jump of 6.88 meters. Scott Sheehan won the shot put competition with a throw of 13.87 meters. Senior Phillip Miccio finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 15.50 meters. Marc Troiani was fourth with a throw of 15.46 meters.
For the women, junior Emma Bolduc finished second in the 3000m with a time of 10:05.28. Megan Papp was fourth in the race, running a time of 10:20.37. In the field, Sara Isaacson placed fourth in the pole vault by clearing 3.15 meters. Freshman Nicole Bartosch had a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.58 meters. The Pioneers had two top-five finishes in the shot put. Kolbi Smith was second with a throw of 13.17 meters and Mareena Dimilia fifth with a throw of 12.22 meters. DiMilia also finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.97 meters.
Sacred Heart is back in action on Thursday, Jan. 16 with a quadrangular meet at Boston University with Boston College and Colgate.
