Fairfield, CT - Freshman Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14. He is the first Pioneer to win a league award this season.

Kasyanov captured the Flight A singles crown at the Quinnipiac Invitational, while also advancing to the second flight doubles semifinal. After singles wins over opponents from Rhode Island and Bucknell, the freshman handled two former NEC Players of the Week in his semifinal and final matches. Kasyanov ousted Quinnipiac's Brian Mikkelson to advance to the championship round. Then, he went on to defeat QU's John Hughes for the title. Kasyanov is a team best 9-2 in singles action this season.

The Pioneers continue fall play this weekend at the ITA Regionals at Princeton.
