FAIRFIELD, CT (August 10, 2006) - Sacred Heart University announced the hiring of Ed Paige as the head coach of the Pioneers men's tennis program. Paige has been involved in tennis as a player, coach and writer nearly all of his adult life. Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, he spent the last five years as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Fairfield University.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attending the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College in Vermont, Paige continued playing and teaching tennis as an amateur, at the same time embarking on a career in journalism. For six years he served as an editor at World Tennis magazine and at Tennis USA, the United States Tennis Association's publication of record. From there, Paige became a desk editor at the Stamford Advocate newspaper, in Stamford, Connecticut, then served as managing editor at Westport magazine, in Westport, Connecticut. A part-time copy editor and proofreader for most of the top publishing companies in the country, Paige also taught feature writing and copy editing at New York University. He has also served as tennis coach at Green's Farms Academy, a private school in Green's Farms, Connecticut. Paige is married to wife Jacqueline and has two avid tennis-playing sons, Nolan and Sayer.
