Final Stats

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (September 29, 2009) - The Sacred Heart men's tennis team took all three doubles matches and all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 sweep of Siena College Tueday afternoon at the SHU Tennis Courts. The Pioneers move to 2-0 in dual match action on the year.

Junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) led the charge at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Michael Amico. Kasyanov and junior Adam Gart (Bedford, MA) teamed up at #2 doubles for an 8-3 win over the team of Kevin Gioia and Vikaran Kadaba.

Juniors Chris Ujkic (Mattituck, NY) and Michael Syer (Oakville, ON) teamed for an 8-6 win at #1 doubles over Amico and Jarrett Siwiec. The duo also earned singles wins with Ujkic winning 6-1, 6-1 over Dylan Roberts at #2 and Syer posting a 6-2, 7-5 win over Jay Godbole at #5.

Also earning singles victories was junior Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) at #4 over Gioia, 6-4, 6-4, and sophomore Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) at #6, 6-0, 6-0, over Nik Godbole. Earning the doubles win at #3 was junior Jacob Miller (West Chesterfield, NH) and senior Jinal Shah (Mombasa, Kenya), 8-3, over the Godbole brothers.

 

 

The Pioneers will head to Stony Brook this Saturday, October 3rd to take on the Seawolves and Saint Peter's.
