Results

The Sacred Heart men's tennis team kicked-off the 2009-10 season over the weekend beating the Fordham Rams, 6-1, in dual match action. The Pioneers posted singles play wins in five of the six spots and swept the doubles matches to notch the victory.

Junior Chris Ujkic (Mattituck, NY) defeated Brandon Abbatrello at #2 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and teamed with senior Jinal Shah (Mombasa, Kenya) for a win in doubles action over Ken Fukumato and Nick Kelly, 8-4. Junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Dallas Harting in #1 singles action.

The Pioneers also picked up wins at #3 through #5 singles. Junior Adam Gart (Bedford, MA) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kevin Maloney at #3 singles and teamed with junior Michael Syer (Oakville, ON) to win at #1 singles, 8-2. Junior Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) won at #4 singles, 6-1, 6-1 over Austin Shoup while sophomore Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) beat Alex Dirienzo at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Freshman Albert Christie (Wilton, CT) and junior John Harvey (Wethersfield, CT) earned the other doubles win beating Eli Plangger and Andryl Kulak, 8-4.

SHU is back in action on Wednesday and Thursday taking part in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Men's College Tennis Invitational.
