FAIRFIELD, CT (April 12, 2006) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on the SHU Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers took the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches to post the dual match win. The men dropped a 5-2 decision to the Wildcats.

Junior Pam Pillo (Shelton, CT) earned a pair of victories Wednesday afternoon, teaming with senior Lauren Galatie (Monroe, CT) for an 8-1 win over Lensey Dixon and Lauren Howard at #1 doubles and then besting Dixon at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

Also winning in doubles was the team of sophomore Jessica Schnell (Schenectady, NY) and freshman Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) who beat Kristin Kelsey and Sara Rice, 8-0.

Other SHU singles winners were freshman Laura Murillo (Pittsfield, MA) at #3, 6-3, 6-0, freshman Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and senior Lissa Von Brecht (Cumberland Foreside, ME) at #6, 6-0, 6-4.

For the men, sophomore Joseph Merendino (Bronx, NY) won his singles match, 6-2, 6-2 at #2 singles.

The Pioneer men and women are right back in action tomorrow afternoon at Quinnipiac.
