FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior Alex Kantarelis won his match at #4 singles 6-0, 6-1 and then teamed up with Peter George to win doubles 8-1 to help the men's tennis team to a 6-1 win over visiting Monmouth University on Monday afternoon. The win upped the Pioneer record to 5-7.

Jared Dye got things going for SHU with a 7-5, 6-3 win at #1 singles over Abel Lampa. George followed that up at #2 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jay Letchko.

Monmouth got its lone point of the match at #3 singles when Chris Hart defeated Joe Meredino 3-6, 6-2 (10-8).

Kantarelis followed with his win at #4 and Chris McDonell knocked off Monmouth's Paul Sikora 6-3, 6-0 at #5. Monmouth forfeited the #6 singles match, giving the Pioneers an 5-1 edge after singles play.

Kevin Teague and Kevin Guidicipietro won the second doubles match over Hart and Rice to give the Pioneers the final margin of victory.
