Final Stats

The Sacred Heart men and women's tennis teams split their dual matches yesterday afternoon at Hofstra University. The women posted a 6-1 win to end a five-match losing streak and even their record at 5-5 on the year while the men dropped to 0-9 with a 6-1 loss to the Pride.

Senior Pam Pillo (Shelton, CT) led the singles play with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Lara Crouch at #1. Pill and Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) beat Crouch and Stacey Kent at #1 doubles, 8-5. Betz also earned a singles win at #3, 6-1, 6-2 over Valerie McDonald.

Also earning singles wins was junior Jessica Schnell (Schenectady, NY) at #4, 6-2, 6-0, over Lauren Moeller. Sophomore Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) beat Tracy Ferrar 7-6 in the first set at #5 and was leading 3-0 in the second set when Ferrar was forced to retire. Freshman Ashley Amalfe (Clark, NJ) finished the SHU singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hannah Zuckerman at #6.

The Pioneers swept all three doubles matches. Kasinow and Amalfe beat McDonald and Ferrar at #2, 8-1, and Schnell and Finkelstein beat Zuckerman and Jen Siegel, 8-0.

The SHU men got a singles point at #6 with Mark Maleri picking up a forfeit win.
