WEST HARTFORD, CT (March 24, 2006) - The Sacred Heart men and women's tennis teams both picked up dual match wins on the road Friday afternoon at the University of Hartford. The men posted a 5-2 win while the women swept every match winning 7-0.

The scored the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3 led by Joe Merendino and Chris McDonnell with an 8-2 win in the second flight. McDonnell led the singles charge with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nate Reich at #3.

Also earning singles wins was Kevin Guidicipietro at #4, 6-3, 6-3 over Brian Reilly and Bryan Rodgers at #5, 6-1, 6-1 over Emmet Drake.

The women got things started with three straight in doubles play led by the 1-2 team of Lauren Galatie and Pam Pillo. The duo posted an 8-4 win over Halley Werner and Raquel Casino. Laura Murillo and Nicole Betz posted an 8-4 win at #2 and Mandy Finkelstein and Jessica Schnell won 8-5 at #3.

Galatie won 6-2,6-0 at #1 followed by Pillo posting a 6-1, 6-0 win at #2 singles. Murillo, Betz, Lissa Von Brecht and Finkelstein completed the singles sweep, all winning at #3 through #6.

Both teams are back in action on Monday afternoon at the University of Connecticut.
