Men's Tennis Drops Bryant, 5-2

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Sacred Heart Pioneer men's tennis team took five of the six singles matches en route to a 5-2 win at Bryant University over the weekend. The Pioneers improve to 6-4 in dual match action this season.

Junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) opened singles play with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Cristian Balestrieri at #1 singles, improving to 14-8 in singles play this season. the Pioneers earned the win sweeping the singles matches at #3 through #6.

Junior Adam Gart (Bedford, MA) improved to 12-8 on the year wit a 6-4, 6-2 win over Nicholai Hill at #3 singles. Junior Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) won his #4 singles match over Kevin Gardiner, 6-4, 6-4.

Junior Mike Syer (Oakville, Ontario) posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Thomas Nowak at #5 and sophomore Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) won 6-3, 6-1 at #6 over Andres Orobitq.

The Pioneers lost the doubles point but did get a win from the junior team of Chris Ujkic (Mattituck, NY) and Kasyanov at #2, 8-5, over Nowak and Gardiner.

Sacred Heart will head to Orlando, Florida for three matches, facing South Dakota State, Northern Illinois and Moravian.
