Pioneers Conclude Day One of 2018-19 Season at UCONN Invite

STORRS, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team opened its fall 2018 season at the UCONN Invitational this afternoon. The team returns six players while adding three freshman to the team as well. The team returns to action tomorrow as they continue play against the seven other teams in the tournament including Bentley, Boston University, Fairfield, Holy Cross host UCONN and Quinnipiac. 

Junior Chris Sause led the way for the Pioneers as he defeated Holy Cross's Peter Captio to advance to the next round. On the doubles side, the duo of Wibmer and Casalduc was the only pairing for SHU that came away with a victory in today's match. Play was halted which led to some matches being delayed until tomorrow. Play will resume tomorrow at 9 a.m.

  2. Christian Provenzano (UCONN) def. Bryan Einstoss (SHU) 4-6, 6-1,10-7 

Doubles:

  2. Bogatain/Hartenstein (BU) def. Hosokawa/Sause (SHU) 6-3
  3. Weitz/Au (Bentley) def. Chao/Einstoss (SHU) 6-2
  4. Magalit/Schick (Quinnipiac) def. Khan/Lowe (SHU) 6-3
