HAMDEN, Conn – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team earned the doubles point but only two of six singles matches, losing to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 4-3, Monday afternoon at the QU Tennis Courts. The Pioneers close out the regular season with a 6-13 record.
The duos of Brian Power (Pelham, NY) and Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) and Anthony Savio (Bangalore, India) and Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) took home doubles victories to secure the first point of the match.
Savio made it two-for-two on the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-4 over Ben Tiecher at number five singles. Matt Dean (Newington, CT) recorded the other singles victory for the Pioneers, defeating Carlos Fernandez, 6-3, 6-1 at number four singles.
The Pioneers, who have the fifth seed in the upcoming NEC Championships, will take on the Robert Morris Colonials Thursday afternoon at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
