Hamden, CT – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team traveled up the Merrit Parkway over the weekend to compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational on the campus of their former conference rival. Joining SHU and QU in the invitational, was UCONN, Fairfield, Bryant, Villanova, Hartford, and Bentley.
In the field of eight teams, the Pioneers were able to rebound from early losses and win three of the singles consolation brackets. Junior Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) won the A consolation bracket, defeating two players from UCONN on his way to the championship. Senior Kevin Budrawich (New Canaan, CT) took home the B consolation title, taking down players from UCONN, Fairfield, and Bryant en route to the title. In the C consolation bracket, senior Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) grabbed the hardware, defeating Kevin Mirabile of Fairfield and then beating fellow Pioneer, junior James Bogdanovich (Barrington, RI), in the title match.
Sacred Heart wraps up their Fall Schedule at the Connecticut State Championships, held at Yale University on October 25-27.
