Pioneers Nab 5-2 Win at Villanova

VILLANOVA, PA (March 20, 2011) - The Sacred Heart men's tennis team closed out their weekend road trip on Sunday with a 5-2 win at Villanova University.  The Pioneers swept all three doubles matches to take the doubles point and notched four of six singles wins to up their record to 6-5 on the year.

Seniors Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY), Michael Syer (Oakville, Ontario), Cole Conrad (Fairfield, CT) and Jake Miller (West Chesterfield, NH) all earned a pair of wins over the Wildcats on Sunday.  Kasyanov posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Dave Shaheen at #1 singles.  He teamed up with senior Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) for a win at #1 doubles, 8-6, over Treton Alenik and Tom O'Brien.

Syer defeated O'Brien 7-6 (4) and 6-2 at #3 singles while Conrad won 6-3, 6-3 over Matt Colonnese at #4 singles.  The two teamed up for an 8-3 win at #2 doubles over Colonnese and Drosick. 

Miller closed out the singles wins with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Andrew Adler.  He and junior Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) were 8-0 winners over Shaheen and Ryan Peyton in doubles play.

The Pioneers will take on Yale University on the road on Tuesday afternoon.
