Men's Soccer Closes Out Home Schedule with Crucial NEC Games

The Set-Up... The Pioneers return home for their final homestand of the year as they welcome Saint Francis (PA) and Robert Morris to Campus Field. The Pioneers enter the weekend with a 6-6-1 record and a 2-3-0 mark in NEC play, two points behind Robert Morris for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Pioneers Split NEC Pair... The Pioneers split a pair of games in their weekend of NEC play. Sacred Heart opend the weekend schedule with a 2-1 win over Central Connecticut on Friday. Sunday, the Pioneers dropped a 1-0 decision to Quinnipiac. Sophomore Jason Tessitore and junior Ricarti Mendes scored the Pioneer goals.

Last Time vs Saint Francis... Sophomore defender Bryce Luetzen scored off a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, and the Saint Francis men's soccer team rallied for a 1-1 tie versus NEC rival Sacred Heart last year at the Stokes Athletics Field. Jason Tessitore had the Pioneer goal.

Scouting the Red Flash... Saint Francis makes the trip east with a 6-5-3 mark on the season, and a 3-0-2 mark in NEC play. The Red Flash are unbeaten in their last eight games and have won three straight, including a weekend sweep of St. Francis (NY) and Long Island last week in Loretto. Aaron Calpham and Scott Thompson lead the Red Flash attack with five goals each. Goaltender Brad Williams has allowed just 10 goals in 12 games, a 0.84 goals against average, and has posted five shutouts. He has allowed just four goals in the Red Flash's eight game unbeaten streak.

Last Time vs Robert Morris...Sophomore John DelGreco scored with seven seconds left in the second half to lift the Robert Morris University men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Sacred Heart in both team's Northeast Conference opener last year in Pittsburgh. Jason Tessitore, Tony Allegro and Gustavo Netto scored the Pioneer goals.

Scouting the Colonials... Robert Morris enters the weekend at 7-5-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the Northeast Conference, two points ahead of the Pioneers in the standings. The Colonials also took a pair of games from LIU and St. Francis (NY) last weekend. Jacek Przednowek leads the Colonial attack with nine goals on the season while goaltender Matt Felice has posted a 1.39 goals against average.
