Sept. 29, 2008

Fairfield, CT - Senior Jason Tessitore (Orange, CT) has been named the Brine/Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 22-28. This is the first award of the season for Tessitore.

Tessitore scored one of the biggest goals in the NEC this season when he found the back of the net for the game's lone marker in Sacred Heart's 1-0 win over #18 Dartmouth on Friday. After Lusiano Dadario carried the ball up the middle of the field, he played it toward the corner to Tessitore. The Orange, CT native cut into the box, maneuvered around a defender and fired the ball into the right corner of the net shortly before halftime for his first goal of the season and 21st of his career. The victory was the first for an NEC team over a ranked school this season and the first nationally ranked win for the Pioneers since 2005.

Sacred Heart is off until October 11th when the Pioneers open NEC play at Fairleigh Dickinson.
