The Set-Up... Following a nine day layoff, the Pioneer men's soccer team return home to open their Northeast Conference schedule this weekend, hosting LIU Friday at 1:30 pm and St. Francis (NY) Sunday at 2:00 pm. The Pioneers are coming off a 2-0 loss againt UConn on Sepetmeber 20th.
Pioneers Fall to Huskies... Akeem Priestley scored his teamleading third goal of the year as the University of Connecticut men's soccer team defeated Sacred Heart, 2-0, last Wednesday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
Last Time vs LIU... Senior Neal Shapiro scored the only goal of the game and the Pioneers men's soccer team outlasted LIU 1-0 last year at LIU Field. With the win the Pioneers are now unbeaten in their last six games.
Last Time vs St. Francis (NY)... Sophomore Dan North scored the lone goal of the game in the 21st minute on a crossing pass from freshman Jason Tessitore to give the Sacred Heart men's soccer team a 1-0 win over St. Francis of Brooklyn in a Northeast Conference battle last season in Queens.
Scouting the Blackbirds... Long Island comes to Fairfield with a 2-6 record, having dropped a pair of games at the San Diego Soccer Classic two weekends ago. Six different players have scored goals for LIU so far this year, led by Michael Marten, who has scored three so far. In goal Jeremy Wimer and Alex Fatovic have split time thus far, each having goals against averages around 2.
Scouting the Terriers... St. Francis enters the weeekend with an 0-8 mark following a loss to Columbia on Thursday. John Joseph leads the Terrier attack with two goals while Chris Antonio has posted a 2.36 goals against average thus far.
