Fairfield, CT - Freshman Jesper Fredriksson (Gothenburg, Sweden) was named to the SoccerTimes.com Player of the Week Honor Roll for the week of September 11th-17th.
Fredriksson, who is quickly becoming an offensive force, was unstoppable last week, scoring five goals as Sacred Heart won two-of-three matches to improve to improve to 3-2-1 on the season. He tallied twice in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime triumph over Holy Cross, including the game-winner on a header off a cross from Jason Tessitore in the 97th minute. Fredriksson recorded the Pioneers' lone goal in a 2-1 double overtime setback to host Wisconsin-Green Bay in the opener of the Nike Soccer Classic on Friday, then added a pair of markers in a 3-1 win over Georgia State on Sunday. The native of Goethenburg, Sweden is now tied for the league lead with six goals and ranks fourth with 12 points.
The Pioneers are back in action on Friday, September 29th when they host Long Island in their NEC opener. Game time at Campus Field is 4:00 pm.
