TEANECK, NJ - Senior midfielder Antonio Nunziata (Caracas, Venezuela) scored twice and freshman forward Pino Tubito (East Hanover, NJ) added a goal to give the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team its fifth straight win, a 3-0 shutout of visiting Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon.
Nunziata scored his first goal of the contest in the 30th minute to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage. Junior midfielder Mirza Rusevic (Clifton, NJ) served a short corner kick to Nunziata who fired a shot from 25 yards out past Sacred Heart goalkeeper Jason Roeder.
Sacred Heart had its best scoring chance of the game with eight minutes left in the first half when Carlos Caracas (West Haven, CT) had a shot at an open net, but junior midfielder Nadav Gottesman (Haifa, Israel) came across to make a key defensive save.
Tubito gave the Knights a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute as he collected a cross from freshman midfielder Ky-Huan Moon (Great Falls, VA) on the left side and slid a shot past Roeder for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.
Nunziata went on to give Fairleigh Dickinson an insurance goal in the 78th minute, scoring from 20 yards out on the left side off a feed from junior midfielder Carlos Alarcon (Clifton, NJ).
Fairleigh Dickinson goalkeeper Elvir Prasovic (Astoria, NY) made five saves, two in the first half and three in the second half, to post his second straight shutout and fifth of the year. Roeder made four saves for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart returns to action on Friday, November 5 when they return home to Campus Field to take on St. Francis (PA) at 2:30 PM.
