Moon Township, PA - Seniors Dwayne Chin and Jacek Przednowek each scored a goal to lead the Robert Morris men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart in a Northeast Conference game Friday at North Athletic Complex.
Colonial junior goalkeeper Matt Felice made eight saves for his fourth shutout of the season, but he had some help from freshman Justin Turnley. Felice came out on a free kick into the box only to run into traffic. Senior Brice Victor (Brigdeport, CT) took the deflection and shot on net where Turnley headed it out. The rebound went to Sacred Heart's Jesper Fredriksson (Gothenburg, Sweden) who put the ball back on net. Again Turnley was there, this time settling the ball on the goal line and launching it out of traffic with 15 seconds left in the first half.
The Colonials got on the board in the 10th minute. Chin played a ball from midfield through the defense to classmate Ryan Zabinski running the left wing. Zabinski tapped the ball past Pioneer keeper Matt Jones (Stoke-on-Trent, England) and then hit the wide open net for a 1-0 lead.
Przednowek scored his 10th goal of the season in the 50th minute after running on to a through ball from freshman Neil Shaffer. Przednowek pushed his shot inside the right post.
Jones finished with two saves for Sacred Heart (5-5-1, 1-2-0 NEC) who held a 17-7 advantage in shots. RMU took six corner kick while the Pioneers had four.
Sacred Heart completes its roadtrip through Pennsylvania with a visit to Saint Francis (PA) Sunday. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
