Late Comeback by Huskies Pushes #12 UCONN to 2-1 Victory Over SHU

STORRES, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team fell 2-1 to the number 12 nationally ranked team in the country UCONN tonight. The team will return back to Northeast Conference play this Friday when they travel to face LIU Brooklyn. Game-time is set for 6:00 p.m.

The first half would be a defensive fight as the teams would have just a combined nine shots the entire half. Meanwhile, goalie Robert Strain would tally two saves compared to UCONN's lone one. The defensive battle would last until 39:27 when Segundo Navarro would score his third goal of the season off an assist by senior Oscar Curras to put the Pioneers ahead 1-0. Neither team would be able to tally another goal in the half as Matt Reis would attempt one final shot before the half ended but the shot went wide. 

The Huskies would come out firing shots early as they fired off two quick shots at 53:12 and 55:07 but both would be blocked. Then at 65:14 the Huskies would score the team's first goal of the game to tie the game up at 1-1 courtesy of Dayonn Harris. Both sides would attempt to launch shots at in order to take the lead but neither would be able to as they shots would be either saved or blocked. Then at 88:45 UCONN would be able to score the game winning goal as an own goal by SHU would give the Huskies the 2-1 victory.
