LORETTO, Pa.— The Sacred Heart men's soccer team dropped a Northeast Conference road matchup to Saint Francis U, 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Red Flash (9-8-1, 2-4-1 NEC) added both goals in the second half to halt the Pioneers (3-11-1, 0-4-1 NEC) at DeGol Field.
Saint Francis outshot Sacred Heart 8-2 in the opening half, sophomore Robert Strain made four stops against the Red Flash. SHU's two shots were by senior Ezra Siyadhuba miss high in the fifth minute & junior Matheus Alves blocked shot in the 39th minute.
The Red Flash continued to dictate the pace of play in the second half. The preseason number two pick added its first goal in the 63rd minute as Mario Mastrangelo fired home the cross from Christian Kirichoff into the box. Kalen Fox had the initial assist for the Red Flash. Saint Francis added its second goal in the 87th minute as Mastrangelo drew a foul in the box. Fox pinpointed the penalty kick to the top left corner for the two-goal lead.
SHU was outshot 25-4 on the afternoon, with a 9-0 edge on shots on goal. Strain made eight stops in goal for the Pioneers. Siyadhuba led the Pioneers with two shots.
The Pioneers travel to Robert Morris to close out its NEC road slate Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m.
