Pioneer Men's LAX Alum Erick Perez Signs with MLL's Long Island Lizards

UNIONDALE, NY (April 27, 2005) - Former Sacred Heart men's lacrosse standout Erick Perez was signed by the Major League Lacrosse's Long Island Lizards Tuesday afternoon and invited to attend the club's 2005 Training Camp.

Perez graduated from Sacred Heart in 2003 fourth on the school's all-time scoring list with 161 points. He finished his four year career with 106 goals (4th all-time) and 55 assists (7th all-time). He led the Pioneers in goals (34), assists (18), and points (52) in his senior season earning a spot on the All-Colonial Athletic Association team. He was also voted the 2003 Pioneer's Offensive MVP by his teammates.

Following his collegiate career, the Locust Valley native played two seasons of club lacrosse for Duke-Tobay, and was named All-Club team in 2004.

The Long Island Lizards acquired the attackman from the league's player pool as a free agent on Tuesday. The Lizards kick off their 2005 Training Camp at the Oakdale Campus of St. John's University, as part of the Pro Players Lacrosse 2005 Spring Tournament. The Lizards will take the field at 10:00 AM. The event is open to the public and media is encouraged to attend.
