FAIRFIELD, CT (March 28, 2006) - Sacred Heart junior Matthew Robideau and freshman Bobby Karl were named Colonial Athletic Association Player and Rookie of the Week announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office. Robideau shares the award with Matt Eckerl of Towson while Karl picks up his second rookie award this season.
Robideau scored a career-high five goals and matched a career-best with seven points as Sacred Heart beat Robert Morris 15-9 to win its CAA opener for the first time ever. Robideau found the net three times in the first period as the Pioneers opened a 6-3 that they would never relinquish. Robideau has 11 goals and five assists on the year.
Karl collected a season-high five points as Sacred Heart topped Robert Morris 15-9 last Saturday. The freshman scored one goal and passed out a career-high four assists as the Pioneers captured their CAA opener. Karl has five goals and eight assists on the year.
The duo will lead the Pioneers back into action this Saturday when they travel to Villanova to face the Wildcats in CAA action.
