Freshman Billy Fuchs Named CAA Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (March 15, 2005) - Sacred Heart freshman Billy Fuchs (Marrick, NY) was named Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week announced Tuesday afternoon. The award is the second-straight for the Pioneers after Kieran Carney (Yorktown Heights, NY) took home the honor last week.

Fuchs scored two goals and assisted on three others as Sacred Heart extended its winning streak to three with victories over Robert Morris (18-8) and Manhattan (13-12). The freshman midfielder had a goal, two assists and two ground balls in the Robert Morris win and contributed a man-up goal, an assist and a ground ball versus Manhattan. Fuchs has three goals and four assists for the season.

The Pioneers (3-1 overall) completed their Spring trip to Florida with a perfect 3-0 mark, defeating Fairfield, (13-9), Robert Morris (18-8) and Manhattan (13-12) last week. With its three-game win streak, Sacred Heart has already matched its victory total from a year ago. Junior captain Matt Robideau scored three goals and had four assists against Robert Morris, while Kiel Adams and Rory Morse also found the net three times. Sophomore Peter Greco had a team-high three goals in the Manhattan win and contributed two goals and an assist against Robert Morris. He has a team-high 10 goals for the season. Senior Christian Lynch had two goals, including the game-winner, versus Manhattan. Senior midfielder Blake Reardon won 28-of-43 face-offs over the two games and also picked up 11 ground balls. For the season, Reardon has won 59.3% of his face-offs and has a team-best 24 ground balls. The Pioneers visit Dartmouth on Saturday.
