Katz Named Turfer NEILA Player of the Week

Feb. 23, 2010

FAIRFIELD, CT (February 23, 2010) - Sacred Heart University senior attack Timmy Katz (Freeport, NY) has been named the Turfer NEILA Player of the Week for the week ending February 21.  Katz scored four goals, all in the first half, to lead the Pioneers to a 13-6 home win over Presbyterian on Sunday.  He also collected a pair of assists in the victory.

UMass remains at the top of the NEILA Coaches' Poll for the third straight week after defeating Harford 20-10 on Saturday.  Junior Ryan Hantverk (East Rockaway, NJ) tallied a career high four goals in a game which the Minutemen had their highest offensive output since 2002.

Holding down the second and third spots of the poll are Brown and Harvard.  The Bears remain idle for one more week, while Harvard opens its 2010 season hosting Canisius on February 27 at 1:00 pm.

With a 7-4 win over Vermont, Bryant has cracked the top eight and jumped all the way up to number four.  The Bulldogs currently have a record of 1-1 and were led by sophomore Max Weisenberg's (Long Beach, NY) hat trick to the victory over the Catamounts.

Rounding out the top eight are Yale, Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, and Dartmouth.  The Pioneers sit at 1-1 and moved up to the sixth slot in this week's poll.  The Bulldogs, Bobcats, and Big Green all make their season debuts in the coming week.
