Men's Lacrosse Stumbles at Bryant, 9-4

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team fell at Bryant, Saturday afternoon, 9-4. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 3-8 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 8-4.
Bryant jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Senior attack Timmy Katz (Freeport, NY) scored his team-leading 26th goal of the year to put SHU on the board early in the second. Sophomore midfielder Max Weisenberg netted his 23rd of the season to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 edge at the half.
With Bryant leading 6-1, late in the third quarter, Pioneer freshman Justin Depalma (Manlius, NY) found the back of the net, the first goal of his collegiate career. Senior Jon Flood (Hauppauge, NY) followed soon after with a man-up score to cut the lead to three at the end of the frame.
The Bulldogs outscored SHU 3-1 in the final period. Sophomore Travis Harrington scored his third of the day, with 12:54 remaining. Senior Joe Caridi (East Northport, NY) scored for the Pioneers. Classmate Evan Morgan (Ashburn, VA) collected his team-high 10th assist of the season.
Sophomore Jameson Love stopped six shots to record the win for Bryant. In net for SHU, senior Tom Trgo (N. Merrick, NY) made eight saves.
The Pioneers return to action next Saturday at 1:00 pm against Robert Morris on Campus Field. It will be the first of three straight home games before they close the season at Duke on May 9.
