Sacred Heart Falls at #6 Hofstra, 14-6

HEMPSTEAD, NY – The Sacred Heart University men’s lacrosse team fell to #6 Hofstra, 14-6, Saturday afternoon. The Pride improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Pioneers dropped to 1-5. Senior Timmy Katz (Freeport, NY) tallied four scores to put his season total at 18.
With goals from Katz, senior Evan Morgan (Ashburn, VA), and freshman Bryan Badolato (West Islip, NY) SHU and Hofstra were tied at three at the end of the first quarter. Katz netted his second score of the contest just over two minutes into the second quarter to give the Pioneers the lead.
Hofstra answered as juniors Stephen Bentz and Jamie Lincoln each notched their second goal of the game, and classmate Jay Card added his second and third scores of the game. The Pride didn’t look back, outscoring the Pioneers 11-2 the rest of the way.
Bentz finished the game with five goals for Hofstra, while Card totaled four goals and three assists. Lincoln added three goals and collected three assists.
Senior Tom Trgo (N. Merrick, NY) made eight saves in the cage for the Pioneers. In net for the Pride, freshman Rob Bellairs stopped six shots for the win.
Sacred Heart takes to the field again at Wagner on March 24 at 3:30 pm.
