FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart men's lacrosse assistant coach Tom Compitello will be part of the coaching staff for the Polish National Team at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men's World Championship July 10-19 in Commerce City, Colo.
Compitello just completed his first season as an assistant coach for the Pioneers, and was asked to join the Polish coaching staff by head coach Sean Chamberlain. The two were teammates at Stony Brook.
"Any chance you get to coach at the international level, it's a pretty cool experience," said Compitello. "It's great for the game to be able to coach players from a part of the world that is wanting to grow the sport of lacrosse."
Poland is making its second appearance in the World Championship, finishing 14th in the 2010 tournament in Manchester, England. A record 38 teams will participate in this year's world championship, playing 142 games over 10 days.
