O'Brien named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (December 6) - Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien (Nicolet, QC) has been named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for the second time this season following a five-point weekend.

The sophomore dished out two assists in Friday's 3-3 tie with Mercyhurst before putting the Pioneers on his shoulders and rallying them from a 2-1 third period deficit, to a 5-2 victory over Canisius on Saturday with a hat trick. The win over Canisius jumped SHU back into first place in Atlantic Hockey.

On the season O'Brien leads the team and conference in goals (9), power play goals (6), points (16) and game-winning goals (2). His seven assists are second on the team.

O'Brien and the rest of the Pioneers return to action on Saturday, December 11 as they travel to Amherst, MA to take on the University of Massachusetts. Face off is at 7:00 PM.
