The Game... The Pioneers and Black Knights meet on the ice for the second time this season, the first game between the teams in Milford for the year. Faceoff is 7:00 pm Tuesday night. Sacred Heart is coming off a 5-4 win over RPI Friday night in Troy, their sixth straight win. Army lost a pair of games to Holy Cross over the weekend in Worcester. The squads are tied atop the Atlantic Hockey standings with 13 points, so the winner of Tuesday's game will be the league leader.
The Series... These two teams skated to a 2-2 tie on October 14th at West Point. Bear Trapp scored the game-tying goal early in the third period to help the Pioneers salvage the point. The Black Knights have played 10 games while the Pioneers have just played eight. SHU leads the all-time series with Army 16-9-1.
Last Time Out... The Pioneers posted a huge non-conference win Friday night, beating 16th ranked Rensselaer in Troy by the score of 5-4. Sacred Heart was down 3-1 in the game but rallied for their second win over RPI in as many years. Sophomore Kyle Tyll scored the game winning goal, the first game-decider of his career. Sophomore Eric Giosa had two goals and Bear Trapp had three assists. Senior Pierre-Luc O'Brien had a goal and two assists for the fifth straight game and now has 20 points in his last six games.
Up Next... The Pioneers face in-state rival UConn in a home-and-home series over the holiday weekend. The teams will meet Saturday afternoon at 3:05 at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs. The rematch is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
