Two Men's Ice Hockey Players Receive Atlantic Hockey Honors

FAIRFIELD, CT (November 17, 2003) - Pioneers senior Mike Reagan (Flin Flon, MB) was named Atlantic Hockey Co-Player of the Week for the week ending November 16. Sacred Heart junior Kevin LaPointe (Quebec, QC) was also honored as the Atlantic Hockey Co-Goaltender of the Week.
Reagan led the Pioneers offense over the weekend as the Pioneers swept a weekend home and home series against Army. On Friday night, November 14, Reagan exploded for three goals in a 4-1 win at Army, his first three goals of the season. He followed that performance with one goal and one assist in a 5-1 win on Saturday, November 15, giving him four goals and one assist for five points in the weekend. Reagan now leads the Pioneers in scoring with seven points, four goals and three assists. Reagan shared the award with Pierre Napert-Frenette of Holy Cross.
LaPointe also came up big for the Pioneers over the weekend. He put in a 28 save effort and allowed just one goal on Friday night in recording his first win of the 2003-04 season. The next night LaPointe made 22 saves, including a key save on a break away early in the first period. LaPointe shutout the Black Knights for 113:36 consecutive minutes over the weekend, losing his bid for a shutout with just 1:11 remaining in the third period on Saturday night. LaPointe shared the award with Frank Novello of American International.
The Pioneers will be back in action when the host Bentley on Friday, November 21, at 7:00 PM at the Milford Ice Pavilion. Sacred heart then open a home and home series at Holy Cross on Saturday, November 22 at 7:00 pm and will close the series on November 25 with a 7:00 pm game at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
