Pioneers Vist RPI Friday Night

The Game... Sacred Heart and RPI meet in men's ice hockey action for the third time in four seasons as they face-off again Friday night at Houston Fieldhouse. Game time is 7:00 pm. Sacred Heart is coming off a weekend sweep of Holy Cross and has won five straight games. RPI beat Merrimack Sunday afternoon in another non-conference battle.
The Series... In last year's meeting between Sacred Heart and RPI, the Pioneers built a 3-1 lead and Bear Trapp scored the game winning goal in overtime, as the Pioneers pulled off the upset by a 4-3 mark for their first win over RPI. The Engineers won the first two meetings and own a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with Sacred Heart.
Last Time Out... Last weekend, the Pioneers swept a pair from Holy Cross, winning 4-2 Friday night and then taking a 5-4 overtime victory home from Worcester Saturday night. Senior Pierre-Luc O'Brien, who scored the game winner Saturday night, had nine points, three goals and six assists on the week. O'Brien now has 17 points in his last five games (8 goals and 9 assists), bringing his point total up to a team leading 19 on the season, wth 9 goals and 10 assists. Sophomore Bear Trapp had seven points on the week, three goals and four assists. Senior Jason Smith stopped 65 of 71 shots against Holy Cross, allowing only one 5-on-5 goal.
Up Next... The Pioneers return to Atlantic Hockey action Tuesday night when they host Army in a battle for first place at the Milford Ice Pavilion. The top spot in the AHA standings will likely be on the line when the teams face-off at 7:00 pm.
